The aim of the project was to build on the earlier research work described above, continuing to investigate strategies for interactive query formulation from both user and system perspectives, and gaining further insights into information-seeking behaviour and retrieval effectiveness. The remainder of this report describes how the project team went about fulfilling these objectives. An important issue in any investigation of this kind is what constitutes a ``successful'' search --- some attempts at definition are given in a later chapter. In the time available it has been possible only to produce a broad quantitative analysis of all the data collected --- the material for more detailed analysis (and the software to support it) remains available, and will be the subject of future reports and papers.
