Table 1a shows the number of sessions, queries and searches at the two locations, together with the mean number of queries per session, and searches per query.
Table 1b shows the mean, range, 
and standard
deviation for the session time (in minutes and seconds) at each location.
Mean times for INSPEC are considerably longer, reflecting perhaps the
larger size of the database to be searched and the fact that documents
containing abstracts take longer to read and judge. The range is
artificially inflated by times for users who left the system without
quitting.
